Paralegal & Office Manager: Christina Orozco Garcia

CHRISTINA OROZCO GARCIA is a paralegal and the office manager at Mark Raymond McDonald, A Law Corporation. A legal studies graduate of the University of La Verne, she began her legal career working for the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Office as an office assistant. She obtained a position providing assistance to a Deputy Public Defenders and established office procedures for post-conviction relief matters. Such relief includes dismissals, Prop 47 reductions, Prop 64 reductions, Certificates of Rehabilitation, Governor’s Pardons, and appeals.

Mrs. Orozco Garcia’s assignments included community outreach during which she would attend public events to inform the community of the various avenues to clean up one’s criminal record. In addition, she would network with different organizations to build relations and afford the department new partnerships. Another aspect of her duties was interviewing clients to obtain information pertinent in determining eligibility. Then she would prepare petitions and follow cases through to resolution.

In 2017, Christina Orozco Garcia co-conceptualized a sub-unit that the department would go on to implement. In January, 2018, the first ever Post-Conviction Relief Unit in the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Office was established. When she left, Christina had processed thousands of cases and thousands of petitions were granted.

A private practice specializing in Criminal Defense. His current clientele includes public officials, homicide defendants on private retainer, suspected major narcotics traffickers, juveniles, three strikers, sexual assault, insider trading and securities fraud, general felony and misdemeanor cases, DIU.

During her time at the San Bernardino County Public Defender's Office, Mrs. Orozco Garcia assisted multiple attorneys with pre-trial, trial and post-trial matters. Most notably, she worked in the Post-Conviction Relief Unit which she co-conceptualized. She processed dismissals, Prop 47 reductions, Prop 64 reductions, Certificates of Rehabilitation, Governor's Pardons, and appeals; all of which to assist members of the public clean up their records. Ultimately, Christina processed over thousands of petitions and was successful.

Denise Anne McDonald, Director of Operations

Denise McDonald was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She moved to the United States in 1969. After graduating from Granada High School, she attended Junior College receiving an AA Degree in General Education. She discovered her love for the legal field when she took Business Law. Denise immediately realized that an education in the legal field would challenge her while opening many doors for a promising future.

Denise attended Chapman University, taking many classes in Paralegal Studies before transferring to California State University of San Bernardino. She successfully completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at CSUSB in Criminal Justice and also obtained a Paralegal Certificate.

Denise began her working legal career in 1983 while working for a Sole Practitioner in Woodland Hills, California. She then moved to the Palm Springs area where she expanded her legal knowledge by working for a bankruptcy attorney for over seven years. In 1993 Denise went to work for a family law attorney and stayed at that firm for two years before joining forces with Mark Raymond McDonald, Esq., A Law Corporation.

In her free time, Denise is a volunteer for the Riverside Superior Courts where she acts as a mediator for small claim litigants. Denise has also taught Paralegal courses at a local college and touched the lives of many individuals within the legal community.

Now, Denise is in charge of overseeing the daily operations of the firm, immediate problem solving and any emergencies that may occur within the jail system or with clients and their family. She has over 30 years of experience in the legal field, coupled with her education, has made her an extraordinarily valuable member of the office.

Noelia Barajas, Law Clerk

Born and raised in our very own San Bernardino County, Noelia Barajas is truly dedicated to her local community. It was during high school that she discovered her passion for the legal field, the protection and defense of citizens, and the complex world of our Judicial System. As a multiple recipient of the Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship, she attended the University of California, Irvine where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Law, and Society with a minor in Chicano-Latino Studies.

While at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Noelia was an active member of Sigma Lambda Gamma, a National Sorority where she served two terms as Philanthropy Chair and was elected Chairwoman of the Year. She began her work in the legal field while a full-time sophomore at UCI in Corporate Law. Two years later, she interned at Orange County Public Defender's Office, Juvenile Dependency Division before joining the Law Offices of Mark R. McDonald.

At Mark Raymond McDonald, Esq., A Law Corporation, clients will often be greeted by her. She helps individuals on an ongoing basis, and is always willing to help a client by providing the client with the necessary information he/she requires. Since Noelia is fluent in the Spanish language, she is able to assist those individuals that do not speak English.

Noelia is an active California Notary Public, and has also earned her certificate from the Forensic Science Academy at La Puente Valley. She attends ongoing Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) paralegal seminars with focuses in Ethics, Immigration, and Research. Currently, she is preparing for the LSATs and the Law School Application process.

Noelia is a Member of the National Notary Association, Inland Counties Association for Paralegals, and Los Angeles Paralegal Association.
